A man accused of stabbing his partner to death in Cairns has had his case mentioned in court as he recovers from stab wounds in hospital.

Ricky Cowan, 47, is facing one charge of murder after police found the body of his partner Crystal Ratcliffe at a Woree house last Thursday.

Cowan has also been charged with serious assault of a public officer after allegedly attacking a staff member at the Cairns Hospital, where he's still being treated.

He was revived by paramedics after being found with life-threatening stab wounds at the house on Woomala Street.

Cowan and Ms Ratcliffe, 38, had two children, who reportedly arrived home from school on Thursday afternoon to find the property taped off and police combing the scene.

Cowan's case was briefly mentioned in his absence at the Cairns Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

He was remanded in custody and the matter adjourned to December 7.

Meanwhile, a fundraising page set up to raise money for the couple's children has raised more than $2500.
