Three men who stole a car at knifepoint have evaded police in three pursuits in central west NSW on Saturday.

Police say a 21-year-old man was sitting in his car on Bathurst Road, Orange, just after midnight when the men threatened him with a knife before demanding the keys to his white 1994 Holden Commodore sedan and driving it away.

About 2.30am the car was involved in two police pursuits in Dubbo, with police abandoning the pursuit each time due to safety concerns. The car was involved in another pursuit in Orange at 5.05pm, which was also abandoned for safety reasons.
