The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will announce its decision on Monday afternoon on former FIFA president Sepp Blatter's appeal against his six-year ban from football.

The 80-year-old Swiss, who served as FIFA chief from 1998-2015, is waiting for the CAS verdict after contesting the ban imposed for a "disloyal payment" allegedly made in 2011 to then UEFA president Michel Platini.

Both men last December were originally banned for eight years by the sport's world governing body, but that was reduced in February to six years by a FIFA appeals panel, before Platini had his ban cut in May by a further two years by CAS.

The result of Blatter's appeal will be made public at 3:00pm on Monday in Switzerland.

A CAS statement confirmed: "The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will issue its decision in the arbitration procedure between Joseph S Blatter and the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) at 3.00pm (Swiss time) on Monday, December 5 2016".
