The TV host, 41, was joined by Senator Barbara Boxer for the recording of her Netflix show in California on Wednesday.

As the pair discussed Trump's victory and the devastating impact some of his controversial policies could potentially have, staunch Hillary supporter Chelsea battled to keep her composure.

"I really hate f**king crying," she said as she wiped away tears.

Dressed all in black, she later joked that she was going to move to Spain "but was under contract".

Chelsea's best friend, actress Mary McCormack, later joined them and told her pal she had to remain positive - and also said there's no way she'd be leaving her for Spain.

As the show wrapped, Barbara reminded everyone Hillary won the popular vote and urged people to "double down" and use their voices.

After the result was confirmed on Tuesday night, Chelsea made it clear how she felt about Trump becoming the 45th president.

She tweeted: "My condolences to the President and First Lady. We will keep aiming high. We may not have honoured you this time, but we will honour you."

The show will air on Friday. Credits: Getty © Provided by Trinity Mirror Plc Credits: Getty
