Chet Faker has released his first new music under his real name Nick Murphy.

Fear Less is the first track released under the electro-soul artist's birth name, which he dropped on Facebook on Tuesday.

As Faker, Murphy took out the top spot in the triple J hottest 100 countdown in 2014 with Talk Is Cheap and performed concerts on the Sydney Opera House forecourt last year.

But it seems the album Built On Glass could possibly be the Aussie musician's only release as Faker as he revealed he will now revert to his original name.

"Its been half a decade since I started releasing music as Chet Faker and all of you have been the driving force behind the music since," Murphy posted on Facebook.

"There's an evolution happening and I wanted to let you know where it's going. The next record will be under my own name, Nick Murphy. Chet Faker will always be a part of the music. This is next," he wrote.

Fear Less continues to blend Murphy's electronic sounds with his soulful voice but there's a harder edge to this track which critics are comparing to Radiohead.

Murphy has also announced he will be on the line-up for the St Jerome's Laneway festival next year.
