Australian telecommunications group Visionstream has struck a four-year contract to deliver high-speed broadband to New Zealand customers.

Visionstream, which is 50 per cent owned by Australian construction giant CIMIC through its Ventia subsidiary, says the agreement with Chorus New Zealand is expected to generate NZ$390 million ($A368 million).

The group already connects customers in Auckland and Wellington City to ultra-fast broadband and will now get to expand its operation across New Zealand's south and north islands, including Queenstown, Dunedin, Hutt Valley and Napier.
