A woman is in custody after allegedly punching an ambulance officer and spitting blood in the face of a policeman following a car crash.

Police say the incident began when the 28-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were asked to leave a party at Glenvale, in Toowoomba's west, around 5pm on Saturday.

It's alleged they argued with the party's hosts and the woman drove off with the passenger-side door to the car still open, knocking a man and woman to the ground.

The car reversed into a garden bed before colliding with two parked vehicles and rolling onto its roof.

The woman allegedly then punched and elbowed a female paramedic while she was in the back of an ambulance en route to hospital.

She got out of the vehicle and ran away but was arrested a short time later and taken to Toowoomba Base Hospital, where she allegedly spat blood into the face of a male police officer.

Police expect to charge the woman with a number of offences including serious assault police, serious assault public officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving under the influence of liquor.
