Southern Stars wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney has hailed the news that Cricket Australia will live stream all none-televised WBBL games this summer as a wonderful initiative and celebrated the continuing strides made by women's sport.

The 47 WBBL games that won't be among the 12 screened by Network Ten will be live streamed on cricket.com.au and will also be available via the Cricket Australia Live App, and the WBBL Facebook page..

Monday's news continues the recent run of major announcements of improved broadcast coverage and pay conditions for females across several leading sports.

"Women's sport has gone from strength to strength in the last 18 months,' Mooney said on Monday.

"We get better pay deals and you see the women's AFL starting up and the football teams.

"It's really exciting to see where the next couple of years are going to take us, not just as cricketers, but as female athletes around the country.

"It's really great to see competition between different codes to try and be the best paid sport in Australia for females."

'Mooney is part of the Southern Stars squad for the five-match one-day series against South Africa starting on Friday in Canberra,

Australia has won all eight of their previous ODIs against South Africa and they have never played more than a two-match series.

"One of the bigger challenges is we've not really played a whole lot of games against them,'' Mooney said.

'We've played them at World Cups and things like that, but a five-game series we haven't played that before.

"There's a few fresh faces in their line-up so it will be interesting to see how our batters and our bowlers cope with that, but I think everyone is really looking forward to the challenge."

Mooney pressed her claims for a starting spot on Friday with an unbeaten 95 to steer the Governor General's XI to a two-wicket win over South Africa in Sydney on Sunday.

"It was nice to get a decent score yesterday and kick on a bit which I've struggled to do in the past," Mooney said.
