A pilot is fighting for his life after crashing a crop-duster plane in a paddock in southern Queensland.

The man, aged in his mid-40s, suffered major internal and facial injuries when his plane went down after clipping powerlines as he was spraying the Callandoon property, near Goondiwindi, on Wednesday morning.

He remains in critical condition in Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital.
