Debbie Reynolds dies, son Todd Fisher

Actress Debbie Reynolds, star of the 1952 classic 'Singin' in the Rain' and mother of Carrie Fisher, has died, her son Todd has says, according to AP.

Reynolds, 84, was rushed to hospital in Los Angeles after suffering a possible stroke a day after the death of her daughter on Wednesday.

This news comes after Fisher's death on Tuesday morning from what was described as a massive heart attack on Friday while on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

TMZ reported Reynolds had been at her son's home in Beverly Hills discussing funeral plans for her daughter when an emergency call was logged.

On Tuesday, Reynolds posted a short message regarding her daughter online.

"Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop. Love Carrie's Mother," she wrote.

Born in 1932, Reynolds is known for, among many other roles, her part in the 1952 film Singin' in the Rain.

She was nominated for an Academy Awards for 1964's The Unsinkable Molly Brown.
