A cyclist has had a lucky escape after being involved in a crash with two semi-trailers on Sydney's north shore.

Emergency services raced to Mona Vale Road in St Ives just after 6am on Wednesday after two trucks collided before a cyclist who was riding behind, smashed into one of them.

The cyclist, a man in his 20s, has been taken to Royal North Shore hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said.

Traffic is backed up on Mona Vale Road after several lanes were closed.

Meanwhile an accident further north on the M1 Pacific Motorway at the Mooney Mooney bridge has traffic banked up at least 9km.

Southbound lanes have reopened after a multiple vehicle crash which occurred just after 6.30am.

A man who was trapped in his car has since been taken to hospital with leg injuries, an ambulance spokesman said.
