A motorcyclist with a disqualified learner's licence has been caught allegedly driving 120km/h over the speed limit while evading police near Canberra.

Police allegedly clocked the 43-year-old man travelling at 148km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Federal Highway at Brooks Creek about 9am on Saturday.

After turning on lights and sirens to try to stop the motorbike, police allege the man did not stop and reached speeds of 230km/h while continuing towards Canberra.

Following inquiries, police went to a home on Tempe Crescent, Googong and arrested the man, whose learner's licence was disqualified until January 2017.

He was charged with numerous driving offences and drug possession and his motorbike was seized for three months.
