Big-hitting West Indian Deandra Dottin has smashed the Brisbane Heat to a thrilling five-wicket WBBL cricket win over Sydney Sixers at North Sydney Oval.

Chasing 139, the Heat recovered from 2-3 and 4-38, with Dottin blasting an unbeaten 60 off 44 balls to get the Heat home with four balls to go.

Australian stars Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry scored 48 and 42 respectively in an opening stand of 74 for the Sixers, who scored 6-138.

Both teams were playing their first game in the eight-team competition.

Dottin struck nine fours and a six in an exhibition of clean hitting, which demonstrated why she is the fourth ranked batter in the ICC women's T20 rankings.

"It's pretty hard to stop her when she's batting like that," Sixers' skipper Perry said.

"We were just off a bit with the bat and ball when it really counted."

Dottin added 76 in just over seven overs in a match-turning fifth wicket stand with Australian team allrounder Jess Jonassen, who contributed 30 off 18 balls.

"She had some encouraging words that really helped to keep me going," Dottin said.

"I had to make sure I gathered myself first before I actually hit the ball, because the pitch was playing a bit sticky.

"Having done that, I started to pick the gaps and hit the ball in different areas and showed a couple of cheeky shots."

The teams clash again at Sydney's Drummoyne Oval on Monday evening.
