Dozens of sightseers are stranded in freezing conditions near the Jenolan Caves in NSW after vehicles became bogged in snow.

Police and State Emergency Services volunteers are at the scene where about 80 people, and 14 vehicles including seven buses, are stuck.

An SES spokesman said emergency services were doing what they could to free the bogged vehicles as heavy snow continues to fall.

"If it's not possible to get those vehicles on their way we'll look at what else we need to do to be able to look after those people, and either keep them on site in a safe condition or else remove them from that site," the spokesman told AAP.
