Three people alleged to have carried out break-ins in Adelaide have been nabbed after a stolen car was stopped for a drink driving test.

Police realised the car was stolen from a Smithfield break-in when it was pulled over in Elizabeth South early on Thursday and its driver was reported for drink driving.

The discovery led police to search two properties where they found more stolen goods. They arrested a 24-year-old Port Augusta man, a 43-year-old man and 42-year-old woman from Elizabeth South over three different break-ins in the area.
