A driver is on the run two days after ramming a police car in Tasmania's Tamar Valley.

The driver rammed his vehicle into a police car in Sidmouth on Tuesday about an hour after striking a pedestrian at 7pm.

Police were trying to intercept the man's station wagon when he rammed the police car.

He abandoned the car and fled into the bush.

A 61-year-old woman suffered minor injuries.

"This was very dangerous driving," Sergeant Dwayne Kirkby said in a statement on Thursday.
