Class sizes are decreasing in Queensland's schools due to an influx of extra teachers, the state's education minister says.

Kate Jones says data released on Tuesday showed almost 90 per cent of primary and 95 per cent of secondary classes were within target sizes.

"We made a commitment to employ 875 extra teachers above growth and we are already seeing improvement," Ms Jones said.
