An unprovoked "one-punch" assault by two men on a 21-year-old stranger in Sydney's southeast has left him with facial fractures.

The 21-year-old victim was with a couple of relatives at a convenience store car park on The Kingsway, Cronulla, when he was attacked about 11.30pm on Tuesday.

Police say the assailants approached the trio and punched the 21-year-old in the face, causing him to fall unconscious.

The pair ran from the scene, punching the driver's window of a parked car on Burke Road on the way.

The injured man was taken to Sutherland Hospital with a fractured cheek or eye socket.
