Injured international James Faulkner might be fit to make a late appearance in the domestic one-day competition but hasn't been named in Tasmania's 14-man squad.

The allrounder will miss the five-match ODI series against South Africa starting on September 30, ruled out by a calf complaint suffered during training in preparation for the tour.

But Tigers skipper Tim Paine said Faulkner could make an appearance during October's domestic competition.

"James Faulkner may come into consideration (at the) back end of the Matador Cup if he's cleared by Cricket Australia," the captain said.

The Tigers on Wednesday revealed their line-up for the Cup, which in recent years had proven a challenge too great for them.

Selectors are backing a trio of Queensland imports to strengthen Tassie's performance with former Bulls players Cameron Boyce, Simon Milenko and Ben McDermott all named in the Tigers' squad.

There are five players making their one-day debuts for Tasmania including Cameron Stevenson and Beau Webster.

"We have selected a squad with a really good mix of youth and experience," coach Dan Marsh said.

The group offers plentiful spin options with Marsh open to playing Boyce, Webster and former international Xavier Doherty in the one side.

"The last couple of years, we haven't been far away ... from the third-place playoff, but we didn't get there," the coach said.

"We've got a different look at it this year, with getting Boyce as a legspinner is really exciting and our young batters ... have got some good cricket under their belts."

Tasmanian one-day squad: Tim Paine (capt), Xavier Doherty, Ben Dunk, Dominic Michael, Alex Doolan, Jake Doran, Ben McDermott, Beau Webster, Simon Milenko, Hamish Kingston, Cameron Stevenson, Jackson Bird, Andrew Fekete, Cameron Boyce.
