George Hill's successful return looks set to be costly for Dante Exum after the young Australian was sidelined as the Utah Jazz snatched a 94-92 NBA win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Injuries meant seasoned point guard Hill had played just 36 minutes total over the previous 18 games for the improving Jazz, who are sitting fifth in the hotly-contested western conference with a 23-15 record.

But he is a key man for them and showed as he scored 19 points, pulled in five rebounds and dished out seven assists in his 33 minutes after a three-game absence for concussion.

His return meant it was the first time the Jazz had all 15 players healthy this season. It also meant youngster Exum did not get on court and he faces a struggle to earn game time.

Exum's friend and countryman Joe Ingles continued his best NBA season with nine points, four assists and four steals in his 23 minutes against the bottom team in the conference.
