James Bateman, son of Primary Health Care founder the late Dr Edmund Bateman, has left the medical centre operator after 25 years.

Primary CEO Peter Gregg said on Friday it was "with great regret" that he announced Mr Bateman and the company had "agreed to end their association".

Mr Bateman, whose father founded the company on Sydney's Northern Beaches in 1985, had held the role of general manager of the pathology division.
