A serial killer, a loyal squire and the world's most famous Italian plumber are among the drawcards for geeks flocking to the annual Oz Comic-Con in Brisbane.

Cosplay, anime and gaming will take over the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition centre from Saturday, with the event known for attracting die-hard fans willing to dress up for the occasion.

Actor Robert Barton Englund, best known for playing Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street films from 1984, will sign autographs and meet attendees, along with 20 other stars.

Fans of the Game of Thrones series will be able to have their photograph taken with squire Poldrick Payne, aka actor Daniel Portman, during the two days.

But American voice actor Charles Martinet may enjoy more anonymity until he opens his mouth.

Since 1996, Mr Martinet has voiced the Nintendo character Mario after crashing an audition at the last minute and nailing the energetic, upbeat tone that has since featured in countless gaming titles.
