Gifty Louise was booted off X Factor as Simon Cowell made an epic mistake.

During the results show viewers were treated to performances from Bruno Mars as well as last year's winner Louisa Johnson, before the episode ended with a shock.

Later in the programme fan-favourite Gifty, Ryan Lawrie and Four of Diamonds were left in the bottom three.

After Ryan was saved by the official app vote, Gifty and Four of Diamonds went head to head in the sing-off but it was Gifty who lost her place in the ITV competition.

When Dermot asked Gifty what went wrong, she said: "I don't know."

Simon grabbed the mic from X Factor presenter Dermot O'Leary, saying: "It was my mistake Gifty as I gave you that song."

Moments before Simon made an incredible mistake when he wrongly decided to send his own act home, instead of the girl group.

Simon corrected himself but it was too late, Sharon, Louis and Nicole wanted to save the Four of Diamonds - and sent the singer home.

X Factor rapper Honey G was booed as she sailed through to the next round of X Factor.

In Sunday night's results show Honey G's name was called out before the likes of Gifty Louise, Four Diamonds and Ryan Lawrie and fans reacted.

When the names were read out Honey G - real name Anna Georgette Gildford - jumped for joy.

On Saturday night Cowell backed novelty rapper Honey G who performed Will Smith's Men In Black, and Finnish vocalist Saara Aalto who sang Lady Gaga's Bad Romance.

He told Honey G: "This is the biggest turn around I've ever seen on any artist.

"You started off with everyone hating you, including me, but this was like the Honey G concert.

"After tonight, G stands for the greatest."

Cowell's comments to Aalto were: "Your voice is dynamite. I loved you, I thought it was fantastic."

Judge Nicole Scherzinger got a shock when one of her former protege Rylan Clark frightened her by jumping out from behind her chair in a black PVC catsuit, ahead of his hosting gig on spin-off show The Xtra Factor.
