The owner of two dogs that attacked a young girl in a Perth reserve is being urged to come forward and surrender her dogs.

The nine-year-old girl was mauled at Success Hill Reserve in Bassendean on Friday afternoon, and remains at Princess Margaret Hospital in a stable condition after undergoing surgery on Saturday.

Town of Bassendean Mayor John Gangell urged the owner of the dogs to come forward so the dogs could be seized.

"I don't know who would allow their animals to have such an attack and not actually come forward and say 'my animals were responsible'," he told 6PR on Monday.

The owner is believed to be a woman aged between 30 and 40 with blonde hair, and the two dogs are either bull terriers, pit bulls or similar.
