Here are the key points in GOLDOC's ticket pricings for the 2018 Games:

* the cheapest tickets to several sports, including athletics, will be $20 adults and $10 children

* children are categorised as 16 and under when the event starts April 4, 2018

* public transport is included for free in tickets, while all ticket fees are also included

* opening ceremony seats at Carrara range from $100/$50 (cheapest adults/children) to $495, while closing ceremony is $70/$35 to $350

* swimming tickets range from $40/$20 to $120/$60 for heat sessions, and are up to $200 at finals sessions

* popular sports rugby sevens and beach volleyball are $30/$15 in prelim sessions and up to $100 in finals sessions

* 80 per cent of tickets are available to the general public and will go on sale in April 2017

* GOLDOC expect to reap between $50-$60 million on ticket sales

* "We could have gouged people but we didn't. We think families and children are more important" - GOLDOC chairman Peter Beattie.
