Govt condemns union robocalls on pension

Government ministers are defending changes to the aged pension in the face of "misleading" union robocalls, pointing to the need for budget repair.

Anonymous automated phone calls, purported to be from a woman named Leanne, are being driven by the ACTU and warn of pension changes from January 1.

"The reason we're doing that [making the changes] is because we face a budget repair problem and we're trying to get every part of the community," cabinet secretary Arthur Siondinos told Nine Network on Friday.
