NSW Deputy Premier Troy Grant says he is focused on the job, amid reports he may resign if the National Party is defeated at the Orange by-election on November 12.

The Daily Telegraph reported Mr Grant told a colleague there will be pressure for him to resign in the event of a defeat in Orange and that "I'd have to think about that".

With the greyhound racing ban and the Orange Hospital chemotherapy scandal emerging as big by-election issues, Mr Grant denied the reports.

"I have not told anybody that I will step down if we lose Orange," he said in Sydney on Tuesday.

He said he was focused on his job, not the "scuttlebutt" going around.

"I am focused on the community and I know the community don't want us focusing on ourselves and I am not about to start doing that now," he said.
