Firefighters are working to contain a two-hectare grass fire near a high school in Sydney's southwest.

The blaze, at the rear of a high school in Ashcroft, was reported to emergency services about 4.15 pm on Friday.

No properties are in danger and no students were at the school, NSW fire and rescue superintendent Ian Krimmer said.
