Australian teenager Hannah Green has continued her push for a first LPGA Tour card with a strong second round in a qualifying tournament in Florida.

The 19-year-old fired a one-under par 71 at Daytona Beach on Thursday (Friday AEDT) - a shot better than her opening round performance - to improve her position to equal 27th.

After starting her day tied for 38th, Green hit birdies on the second, sixth and 10th holes before falling away with bogies on the 12th and 17th.

The 19-year-old West Australian needs a top 20 finish at the five-round tournament - the third and final stage of LPGA Tour qualification - to earn a card.

Green, who turned professional last month, will earn a place on the second-tier Symetra Tour if she makes the cut after the fourth round.

Rebecca Artis was the next best-placed Australian, also improving her position on Thursday after shooting a second-round 71 to move from tied 52nd into a share of 41st place.
