Legislation to shut down the NSW greyhound racing industry will be introduced to parliament on Wednesday, the Baird government has confirmed.

It comes as the NSW Greyhound Breeders Owners and Trainers Association on Tuesday launched legal action in the Supreme Court to stop the ban coming into force next July.

A spokesman for Premier Mike Baird told AAP the legislation would be introduced to the parliament on Wednesday.
