Pauline Hanson predicts the Queensland premier will be challenged or will step aside before the next state election.

The One Nation leader told a tourism forum in Canberra on Wednesday she did not believe Annastacia Palaszczuk would remain Labor leader heading into the election, widely expected in late 2017.

"I think there will be a leadership challenge or she will move aside and I think she is going to struggle to hold on in Queensland," Senator Hanson said.

Asked why this would occur, she said: "(Deputy Premier Jackie) Trad wants to be premier."

One Nation's primary vote in Queensland has been estimated at up to 20 per cent, with Liberal and Labor luminaries recently saying the minor party would pick up seats.

Senator Hanson said the Liberal National Party lacked direction and leadership.

At the 1998 election, One Nation won 11 out of 89 seats, gaining 22.7 per cent of the primary vote.
