Queensland police hope the community can learn from rugby league superstar Jarryd Hayne's brush with the state's bikie gangs.

Hayne was videoed partying with Hells Angels bikie Chris Bloomfield on the weekend, a day after his Gold Coast Titans were knocked out of the NRL finals.

The ex-NFL player denies knowing who Mr Bloomfield was or having any knowledge of his bikie gang links at the time of the video being recorded.

Superintendent Mick Niland from Task Force Maxima says the incident shows how easily people can be caught unawares by bikie gang members, who use association with famous people to glamorise their lifestyle and lure new recruits.

"It is a concern but what you've got to realise is social media plays a part, the immediacy of social media," Supt Niland said.

"Anyone of us ... can be caught unawares. The trick is once you realise that these people are (part) of outlaw motorcycle gangs, that you distance yourself from them."
