The Brisbane Heat have signed powerful West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin as their first import recruit for this summer's Women's Big Bash League.

Dottin, 25, shot to fame when she became the first woman to hit a T20 International century with a remarkable ton off just 38 balls against South Africa back in 2010.

The Barbadian was also a key member of the Windies side that won the ICC WT20 World Cup earlier this year, claiming nine wickets at 13.55, and was at the crease when the winning runs were scored in the final against Australia.

Dotton, who has signed a one-season deal with the Heat, has been playing for the Lancashire Thunder in England this winter.

"Deandra's batting is very well suited to T20. She's a powerful hitter with a sound technique," Heat WBBL coach Andy Richards said.

"Her international playing experience will complement our squad and she has a knack of getting key wickets when she bowls.

"We're looking forward to having her here and showcasing her skills for the fans."

The Heat also confirmed the re-signing of Southern Stars trumps Jessica Jonassen, Holly Ferling and Beth Mooney as well as skipper Delissa Kimmince, Jemma Barsby and Courtney Hill.
