BBC talent: how much do the biggest stars earn?

BBC talent pay is back in the headlines after an influential committee of MPs demanded that the British broadcaster publish the salaries of presenters and actors who earn more than the Prime Minister.

The BBC has already agreed with the government to publish talent pay above £450,000 ($593,000) from next year, but the Culture, Media & Sport Committee wants to lower this threshold to £143,462 — Prime Minister Theresa May's salary.

The MPs argued that a glut information about talent pay is already available in "online gossip" and releasing official salaries would be in the interest of TV Licence Fee payers, who fund the BBC.

Business Insider decided to put this theory to the test by compiling a list of some of the BBC’s highest earners through some straightforward Googling.

We should point out that the BBC never comments on the pay of individuals and often shoots down reports on such matters as "inaccurate." The only official information we have about BBC talent pay is contained in a salary table (see next slide) published in the corporation’s annual report.
