Senator Derryn Hinch has made good on his promise to use parliament to name more child sex offenders.

He stood in the Senate adjournment debate to name a convicted pedophile who worked at a Sydney McDonald's outlet.

Senator Hinch said the sex offender not only got a job at McDonald's Penrith Panthers and at Pizza Hut Cambridge Gardens but started offering 14-year-old male staff members a ride home from work.

Senator Hinch made his first speech on Tuesday, making good on his promise to name child sex offenders. He vowed there would be more.

Senator Hinch said the man's name went on to the sex offender's register that remained secret, known only to top police.

"That's why a national public register of convicted sex offenders is so urgent," he said.

Senator Hinch said McDonald's had acted swiftly. The company is now implementing a compulsory criminal check of all job applicants over 18, with that to be rolled out nationally within the next two months.
