Human bones uncovered at an inner-Brisbane park in June are thought to be about 155 years old after scientific testing.

Radio carbon dating of a human jaw bone, which council workers stumbled on at the Teneriffe park on June 7, concluded it belonged to a person who died prior to 1950 but most likely between 1800 and 1899.

"Further, it is thought that the bones are around 155 years old, with a statistical variance of around 21 years," police said in a statement.
