The Australian embassy in Bangkok is urgently trying to determine if any Australians have been hurt in bombings at the Thai seaside resort of Hua Hin.

Police say one woman was killed and 10 people were injured when two bombs went off on Thursday night local time.

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson said in a statement embassy officials were urgently seeking information from Thai authorities on whether Australians were involved.

"Australians concerned for the welfare of family and friends who may be in the area should first attempt to contact them directly," the statement said.

Failing that, relatives are advised to contact the DFAT's 24-hour Consular Emergency Centre on 1300 555 135 within Australia or +61 6261 3305 from overseas.
