Wantaway goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic has finally arrived at Western Sydney, a month after being given leave by former A-League club Sydney FC.

The 29-year-old gloveman has been frozen out at the Sky Blues this season, dumped behind Danny Vukovic in the pecking order after four years as Sydney's first-choice goalkeeper.

Janjetovic, who trained formally with the club for the first time on Tuesday, wasted no time settling into his new surroundings, saying he was "happy to be home".

"I live just around the corner from our training base so it feels like home," he said.

"I've heard a lot about the club and what a good place it is to be.

"I haven't trained in a little while so I've got to get up to speed. There are a lot of challenges ahead but I'm looking forward to every single one of them."

Janjetovic made 100 appearances for Sydney FC, including the 2015 Grand Final, won by Melbourne Victory.

He has signed an 18-month contract with Tony Popovic's side, which has lacked consistency in goal this campaign.

Andrew Redmayne and Jerrad Tyson have leaked 21 goals in 11 matches this season for the seventh-placed Wanderers.

The existing pair will continue to battle for the role for at least two more games.

Due to transfer regulations, Janjetovic becomes eligible to make his debut on January 6 when the Wanderers travel to play Melbourne City.

Janjetovic said he was looking forward to working with former Socceroos custodian and Wanderers goalkeeping coach Zeljko Kalac, who was previously his mentor at Sydney FC.

"He's the best goalkeeper coach in Australia," he said.

"We've worked together before, I know what to expect from him, he knows what to expect from me so we get along really well."

It remains to be seen if either Redmayne - who was previously mooted as part of a potential swap deal with Sydney for Janjetovic - or Tyson will now leave the Wanderers.
