It is not often that the Duchess of Cambridge mixes things up, aesthetically. She has her preferred designers; her go-to pumps; her trademark Breton-top-and-jeans combination for casual outings—and her signature blowout. So when she does veer off in any direction—whether it be fringe-y bangs, or a space-inspired dress, or, most notably, on the rare occasion when she wears a tiara, it’s basically cause for parades down the streets of London (or New York, or Tallahassee, or wherever you are as you read this).

So, on a morning like this one, otherwise unremarkable, to open your laptop and learn that Kate Middleton has chopped off “a few inches” (!) of her hair . . . well, let’s just say that if you didn’t open your window, shriek into the frigid air, jump outside, and run through the streets beating your chest, well then you are a very different individual than us.

Yes, Kate arrived this morning at a London charity event—in a standard LK Bennett ensemble—with a markedly different haircut, a “rare change for her”.

Kate!!!! A tiara appearance, followed by a haircut, on back to back days in mid-December—this is basically re-defining closing out the year with a bang (or, in this case, actually, lack of bangs).
