Country music king Keith Urban will headline the NRL grand final show in October ahead of a national tour.

The Aussie rocker, who is headlining the Deniliquin Ute Muster just days before the match, will take to the stage after musical duo RSO comprising former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora and Adelaide guitarist Orianthi.

Urban will be joined on his Australian tour in December by American country singer Carrie Underwood, who features on the track The Fighter from his latest record Ripcord.

The album debuted at No.1 on the ARIA Album chart and spent 15 weeks in the top 10.

Urban said he can't wait to share his music with fans in the packed stadium and those watching at home.

"I'll be giving it everything I've got before the players do the same on the field," he said.

An extensive pyrotechnics display is expected for the show, which was last year headlined by Cold Chisel.
