High-profile accountant Anthony Bell has dismissed an AVO lodged by his wife Kelly Landry as "a pack of lies", as she sat in a Sydney court in tears as she heard her marriage was over.

Landry, a former television personality, appeared emotional during proceedings at Waverley Local Court on Thursday, as her husband's lawyer said his client wanted a divorce and never wanted to see her again.

Bell was not present in court, but his lawyer Chris Murphy told the court his client planned to divorce his wife, calling the interim apprehended violence order against him a "pack of lies".

"He doesn't want to see her again. He believes this is a fallacious case brought to media attention, possibly by someone suffering from celebrity deprivation," Mr Murphy said.

Bell is a well-known yachtsman who skippered the winning supermaxi Perpetual Loyal in last month's Sydney to Hobart race.

Ms Landry is understood to have taken out the AVO against her husband shortly after the race on December 28.

In court, Mr Murphy said Bell was happy to support his wife and two young daughters while living separately from them.

"He's happy for her to live in the house, keep the car and he will support the family," he said.

Mr Murphy agreed to the interim AVO on behalf of Bell until the next court hearing on February 17.
