Rowing Australia has continued its post-Olympics coaching revamp with John Keogh signed to return home as national women's head coach.

Tasmanian Keogh led the Canadian women's rowing program for the past six years, guiding them to silver in the lightweight double sculls at the Rio Olympics and silver in the women's eight at London 2012.

He also helped Canada win consecutive medals at the world rowing championships from 2010-15.

His arrival follows the appointment earlier this week of New Zealander Ian Wright as men's head coach.

Keogh, who represented Australia as a rower at two world championships, previously worked as a high performance coach with Great Britain. for the Beijing Olympics.

"John has many years of international experience and a proven track record of securing medals with his female rowing crews," Rowing Australia CEO Michael Scott said.
