Labor condemns PM for inflicting chaos

Labor wants parliament to condemn Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull for being willing to do "absolutely anything" to keep his job.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten moved the censure motion towards the end of parliament's question time, telling MPs the prime minister had inflicted chaos on the country.

He accused Mr Turnbull of being willing to trade guns for votes, race hate protections for backbench support, and cash for Bob Day's Senate vote.

The government moved quickly to shut down debate on the motion, using its numbers to gag Mr Shorten.
