A limousine driver has been freed from his vehicle after he became pinned under a truck in a collision in Tweed Heads, on the NSW far north coast.

Northbound lanes of the M1, as well as one southbound lane are closed, while inquiries are still being conducted by NSW Police following the lengthy rescue mission after the midday crash.

The limousine driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to God Coast hospital, while the truck driver remained uninjured.
