A majority of Australians disagree with a legal case being levelled against a group of Queensland university students under racial discrimination laws.

Three Queensland University of Technology students are being sued under the controversial section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act over a series of 2013 Facebook posts about a computer lab reserved for indigenous students.

The latest Newspoll, published by The Australian on Wednesday, shows 57 per cent oppose the case against them, compared to 21 per cent in favour and 22 per cent uncommitted.
