A man has been charged with lighting a fire in a Perth bank and threatening staff.

The 30-year-old allegedly entered a bank on William Street about 9am on Friday and acted aggressively towards staff before smashing a TV screen and setting paper on fire.

The man also "intimated he was carrying a firearm", police said in a statement.

He has been charged with a number of offences, including criminal damage, trespass and possessing drug paraphernalia, and will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday.
