A man has been charged after a shopper in a western Sydney supermarket was stabbed with a pair of scissors.

It's alleged the 40-year-old male customer was stabbed after he intervened in an argument the man was having with a staff member at a Bass Hill grocery store on Tuesday morning.

The injured man was treated at the scene for cuts to his arm before being taken to Liverpool Hospital.

His 36-year-old alleged attacker was charged with three offences including two counts of assault and refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.
