A man aged in his 60s has died and six others have been injured in two separate car crashes in Victoria in the last three hours.

The man died when his car crossed to the wrong side of the road and crashed into a truck at Ledcort in the Grampians region at around 3pm on Monday, Victoria Police say.

The man died at the scene, while the truck driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Two hours earlier, five people were taken to hospital after a two-car crash in Somerville near Mornington.

Ambulance Victoria says in this crash a man and a woman, both in their 60s, suffered chest injuries, while a woman believed to be in her 20s was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in an unknown condition. An adult and a child were also taken to hospital in a stable condition.

It follows the death of a 72-year-old woman who was struck by a ute in Sunshine North on Sunday night, with the 40-year-old driver charged with dangerous driving causing death.

Victoria's road toll sits at 217, which is 36 more than this time last year.
