A man will face court after a violent carjacking in Queensland's southeast in which he allegedly drove off with a three-year-old girl still strapped in her seat.

The man is also alleged to have pushed the girl's mother's face into the steering wheel before dragging her out of the car by the hair in a Laidley supermarket car park on Wednesday night.

The 41-year-old mother managed to get her other daughter, aged 10, out of the car before it was driven off, with the driver stopping in a nearby street to leave the three-year-old beside the road.

Police say a 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged with multiple offences including robbery with violence, abduction of a child, assaults occasioning bodily harm and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

He is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Friday.
