A man accused of stabbing another man on the Gold Coast multiple times has been refused bail.

Corey Peter Doble, 24, faced Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing Shannon Ottley, 47, on Saturday.

Police allege Doble stabbed Mr Ottley several times at the front of the older man's Southport unit.

Mr Ottley suffered stab wounds to his torso, neck and face and is in a serious but stable condition at Gold Coast University Hospital.

"Well I am in hospital at the moment cause I got stab 9 times and a broken nose as well," Mr Ottley wrote on his Facebook page.

The Gold Coast Bulletin reports Mr Ottley's brother-in-law, who lives in the same unit complex, heard the disturbance and chased the alleged offender down the street.

Police believe Doble and Mr Ottley are known to each other.

Doble was refused bail and his matter has been adjourned until September 23 for mention at Southport Magistrates Court.
